Djerdap National Park

Serbia is of course not just cities. The Djerdap National Park is a must see for anyone taking the trouble to visit Serbia. The famous Iron Gate (Djerdap gorge) is one hundred kilometers long, from Golubac to Tekija. It is actually the result of four separate gorges in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, leading to the Danube River. The park has, in addition to the splendid geological features, a vast array of wildlife and flora. Lepenski Vir is an 8,000-year-old archaeological site with exceptionally important traces of Neolithic settlement. There are also the Golubacki Grad and Kladovo fortresses.

The park has a hotel, guided tours, swimming and other tourist facilities.
