Serbia Guide

Balkan republic forming the eastern section of the former Yugoslavia. It is bordered by Hungary to the north, Romania and Bulgaria to the east, Macedonia and Albania to the south, and Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia to the west. With an area of 88,358 square kilometers, its population in 2000 was 10,140,000. Its capital is Belgrade, on the junction of the Sava and Danube Rivers in north central Serbia. Other major cities are Novy Sad, Nic, and Subotica.
